Privacy notice
This notice explains how we handle personal information when you visit this website, send us an enquiry or write to us, and when we contact you in a business capacity. We keep it short, and we keep your information to a minimum.
Who we are
The controller of your personal information is Fergus Dent, trading as MRM Partners. If you have any question about this notice or your information, please email hello@mrm.partners.
What we collect
When you use the enquiry form, we collect your name, email address, telephone number (if you choose to give it) and your message. When you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message.
Like any website, our host automatically processes limited technical information, such as your IP address and browser type, so that pages can be delivered securely.
Please do not include sensitive information, such as health details, in an initial enquiry.
How and why we use it
We use your information only to reply to your enquiry, to hold the conversations that follow, and, if we go on to work together, to prepare for and carry out that work. Our lawful bases are our legitimate interest in responding to people who contact us, and taking steps at your request before entering into an agreement.
Making introductions is what we do. With your agreement, and only then, we will share relevant details with the buyers, acquirers or corporate finance specialists we introduce you to, who will handle them under their own privacy notices.
We do not sell your information, we do not use enquiry details for marketing, and otherwise we do not share them with anyone other than the service providers described below.
Business contacts we reach out to
We sometimes contact owners, founders and senior people at UK businesses whose role makes MRM Partners relevant to them. We obtain their name, job title, company and work contact details from business contact databases such as Apollo, and from public sources such as company websites, Companies House and LinkedIn. Apollo provides this information as an independent source, not as our processor.
Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in letting business owners know about introductions that may be relevant to them. We contact people in a business capacity only.
Every email we send includes a way to opt out. If you reply asking us to stop, or email hello@mrm.partners, we will not contact you again. We keep a minimal record of your email address so that we can honour that choice.
Hosting and service providers
This website is hosted by Netlify, Inc., which also receives and stores enquiry form submissions on our behalf. Netlify acts as our processor and may process data in the United States. Where information is transferred outside the UK, it is protected by appropriate safeguards, such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum to the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses. Form submissions are also forwarded to our email inbox, which is provided by a reputable email service provider acting as our processor.
Cookies and tracking
This website does not use cookies, analytics, advertising pixels or any other tracking technology. Our fonts and images are served from this website, so visiting it does not send your information to third parties such as font or analytics services. That is why you will not see a cookie banner.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiry details only for as long as we need them. If we do not go on to work together, we delete them within 24 months of our last contact. If we do work together, we keep records for as long as the work continues and then for as long as the law requires, typically six years. We periodically remove form submissions from Netlify once they are no longer needed there.
For business contacts we have reached out to, if you do not respond or engage, we delete your details within 12 months of our last contact. If you ask us not to contact you again, we keep only your email address on a suppression list for as long as we need to honour that request.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
- ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete;
- ask us to delete your information, or to restrict how we use it;
- object to our use of your information; and
- ask for your information to be transferred to you or another organisation, where applicable.
To exercise any of these rights, email hello@mrm.partners. We will respond within one month.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so that we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK regulator for data protection: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or 0303 123 1113.
